1789. “The Drowned Girl” by David Bowie

Our final offering from David Bowie was recorded for David Bowie in Bertolt Brecht’s Baal in 1982.

While one certainly can’t say the song is pleasant, the performance is outstanding and very close to the sound that, perhaps, one might have heard in Brecht’s original performances of Baal.

I’d take this opportunity to go off on Brecht – whom I have a rather lot to say about – but I feel like I’d like the spotlight to be on Bowie’s excellent vocal performance. Its an excellent way to end our nearly-month long look at his work.
