3525. “Maneater” by Hall & Oates

Official video:

Oh yeah, Hall & Oates also wrote “Maneater.” It was their fifth #1 single and stands to this day as the ultimate expression of the sound they were developing in the 80’s. Some of their other songs sound maybe a little dated or just this side of cheesy (often saved from that by Hall’s vocals), but “Maneater” sounds like it emerged into the world fully formed and perfect.

One more shout-out to Charles DeChant, Hall & Oates’ long time sax player, who really puts his stamp on this song.

I can’t find a version of this song on Live From Daryl’s House, but that might just be my poor search skills raising their ugly head. Instead, I encourage you to listen to Daryl Hall and John Stewart of Eurythmics playing a haunting version of “Hear Comes The Rain Again.”

  2. I haven’t seen this song performed on any of the episodes I’ve watch. I’ve seen “Sara Smile” done multiple times, most notably by Rumer and Fitz and the Tantrums.

I’ve always dug this song and secretly wanted to get gobbled up by this minx.
