3605. “Arms And Hearts” by The Hold Steady

“Arms and Hearts” always struck me as a rather forgettable song to conclude Boys and Girls in America, so it all made sense to learn it was a bonus track. Its a decent song, I suppose, hitting on the drug-love-religion trifecta that Craig Finn often explores. The chorus is slightly reminiscent of parts of “Citrus.” I like the song when it picks up and the band rocks out, but that’s because I’m a cretin who can ignore quality songwriting in favor of rocking out about 90% of the time.
